BTS Group: Thank you for the show Mr Ekelund - ABG

Founder and CEO steps down after 36 years
New CEO, Jessica Skon, has been with BTS since 1999
No drama in the succession, momentum likely strong

The right time has come, Henrik Ekelund steps down
Henrik Ekelund (born 1955) founded BTS in 1986 and has been the CEO since then. A very successful founder and CEO. Mr Ekelund has built a well-rewarded global professional services firm, focusing on turning strategy into action. The company has been very successful and reached an attractive position in the labour market as well, being able to attract top talents from both leading management consulting firms and top universities world-wide. Earnings growth and shareholder value has followed suit. Since the IPO in June 2001, the company’s revenue have grown on average 13% per year and EBITA 17% per year. The total return of the stock these 21 years has been ~3,000%, equal to a yearly average return of 18%. Mr Ekelund himself is the company's largest shareholder, with 19% of capital and 40% of the votes. Mr Ekelund is proposed to take over the position as Chairman of the Board.

Head of North America, Jessica Skon, is taking over
Jessica Skon (formerly Parisi), currently CEO of BTS North America (51% of group sales in 2021), is being appointed as the new Group CEO. Jessica has had her position for the last six years and joined BTS in 1999. Henrik has most likely been very involved in the succession and has worked closely with Jessica for many years, which we find supportive in securing the corporate culture. At the same time, Philios Andreou (currently Head of Other Markets) is appointed Deputy CEO. Philios started at BTS in 2003. Both will start their new jobs on 16 May.

Timing of succession should support momentum
With Q1 already closed and the company preparing the report, we would be very surprised if it turns out to be a particularly weak report, as it will be Mr Ekelunds last report as CEO (due Friday 13 May). That is not the Mr Ekelund we know of. He has prepared this for a long ...
